A Message from the Grand President, Sharon Brown

Greetings, fellow members of Lambda Kappa Sigma!

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Nu Chapter at Drake University in Des Moines. I traveled - unannounced- to Des Moines in May, on Mother's Day Weekend, to participate in the first ever LKS sponsored "HOPE waLKS" 5k walk/run to raise money for Project HOPE. During only the third year as an active chapter, they undertook this major project, including gathering sponsors, obtaining permits, insurance and security, making T-shirts (including an amazing logo!), and doing on-line sign-ups for participants and donations. Despite what felt like sub-zero temperatures and a brisk wind, the participants (see photo) in the event had a great time, and $1700 was donated to Project HOPE through these efforts. Please join me in congratulating these innovative young professionals!

In addition, I would like to urge all chapters to consider duplicating their efforts. I have a vision of this becoming an LKS signature event, one that will be held at every campus that is home to an LKS chapter. Imagine the exposure of the LKS Brand. Imagine the expanded opportunity to educate the public about the great work done by Project HOPE as well. Look for more information in upcoming fraternity publications.

It was great to hear about all the successes of our chapters during our recent time together in Pittsburgh. I am very proud of the work that everyone has done, and I know that many new friendships were established.

Fraternally, Sharon Brown, R.Ph. - Grand President & Lamb for Life
