Alumni Spotlight: Meet Stephanie Mrozek!

LKS spotlights student and alumni members that are making a difference in their chapters, in their communities, and in the field of pharmacy.
Chapter:  Tau Alumni Chapter

About Stephanie:

I was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. I attended Duquesne University and graduated with my PharmD in 2011. During my time as a student, I served as New Member Coordinator as well as Chapter President. I am also a past recipient of an educational grant for which I am truly thankful. I am now a member of Tau Alumni Chapter.

I work as a pharmacist at The Hometown Pharmacy, a family-owned independent pharmacy with locations in northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. My mother started the company in 1999, and we now have 14 community pharmacies as well as a long-term care and compounding pharmacy. I currently live in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh and float to our newest pharmacies to oversee pharmacy operations.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling (especially to Las Vegas), spending time with family and friends, shopping online and attending sporting events. I root for the three Pittsburgh teams (Pirates, Penguins and Steelers) as well as The Ohio State University Buckeyes and Cleveland Cavaliers.

For LKS, I served as Central Region Supervisor, Mid Atlantic Region Supervisor and as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee. I have attended every Convention since the 2008 in Savannah, Georgia.

Most memorable LKS experience?

Aside from attending my first Convention in Savannah, Georgia and being able to meet the members of Grand Council in person, my most memorable experience would have to be my first night at the 2012 Convention in San Diego. I arrived around 11 p.m. and was told that the hotel had been overbooked and they were looking for a room for me. After a few hours of sitting in the lobby, I was eventually taken to a conference room with a cot where I spent my first night. Ironically this was the same conference room we had our Region Supervisor training the next day and my cot was still there!

What advice would you give to fellow sisters?

Students, attend as many Conventions as possible and do not be afraid to lean on your alumni members for advice in both your professional and personal lives. We are all sisters and truly want what is best for each member. Alumnae, don’t forget to stay involved! We all have unique experiences from which other sisters can benefit. Also, please remember to keep a good work-life balance. While work may pay the bills, life experiences are crucial to avoiding burnout and enjoying your life!

Why are you a lamb for life?

I am a lamb for life because I have met so many of my best friends by attending Conventions. It is such a surreal experience to get to the airport on my way to Convention and see other lambs in the gate area. I thoroughly look forward to attending Convention every year and being able to share stories and receive advice from both alumni and collegiate members.

What job would you do if you weren’t a pharmacist?

I would be an endocrinologist. I thoroughly enjoy helping people and the field of endocrinology has always interested me. If a career as an endocrinologist didn’t work out, I would then like to be a trophy wife. A girl can dream, right?!
