The Chrysanthemum

Student Spotlight: Meet Haley Breski

Tell us about yourself: (school, chapter, work, hobbies, LKS activities, meetings attended, career plans)
I am proud to be a sister of Tau Chapter at Duquesne University. I work at CVS Pharmacy. A few of my hobbies include spending time with friends/family, watching Pittsburgh sports, and painting! I have attended the 2018 convention in Buffalo and the 2019 convention in Milwaukee. I also tuned in for parts of the 2020 virtual convention. A large part of my involvement in LKS has been helping to create a convention committee for Tau chapter in order to financially support sisters going to the convention. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in community or pediatric pharmacy.

Which of our core values (sisterhood, leadership, service, scholarship and integrity) do you feel you most strongly represent and how?
I feel that I most strongly represent the core value of leadership. Within Lambda Kappa Sigma, I hope and feel that I positively guide other sisters by example. Inside and outside of LKS, I balance many leadership roles, aiming to contribute to the greater success of organizations.

What pharmacy or LKS related events are you looking forward to in this upcoming year?
This year, I am most looking forward to Fifth Year Brunch, where we gather with our LKS sisters and family to celebrate our time in pharmacy school and LKS before heading off to rotations. I am hopeful that this spring we will be able to experience some in person events in addition to virtual events.

What is your favorite chapter/school tradition?
My favorite chapter tradition is big/little reveal. Every year, it gets more and more exciting to welcome new sisters into our organization and tree.

Who do you see as your role model in LKS and why?

My LKS role model is my big, Breann Saxberg. She has encouraged me and supported me from the moment I met her. She has a clear passion for LKS, and it pushes other people to want to be better. Breann leads by example, is so selfless in her ways, and is always looking out for her sisters. She encouraged me to go to my very first LKS convention, which leads to great opportunities and so many memories together! I am so thankful for Breann and because of her, I am a better sister and person!

What makes you excited to be a ‘lamb for life?’
I am excited to be a ‘lamb for life’ because I know I have found a group of strong women who will always have my back. LKS is a never-ending place for opportunities to develop as a person and professional. I know that as a lamb for life I will always be pushed to be better!
