Get to Know Alpha Omega Chapter!
School: Sullivan University
Alpha Omega Chapter was chartered at Sullivan University in Kentucky on September 13, 2014. Our chapter tries to schedule a lot of events for our members to hang out and spend time with one another. We volunteer together and almost everyone holds a leadership position within the school. Our members hold themselves to a high standard in and out of the classroom. We work hard to help each other along as we all go through this journey of pharmacy school together!
Best Fundraising Efforts
Our best fundraising event would be our annual silent auction at the Kentucky Pharmacist Association Legislative Day, with proceeds going to Project HOPE. At the beginning of each school year, we also host a successful t-shirt sale for Sullivan University College of Pharmacy.
Professional Event
Our most successful professional event would be bringing in professional women to our school’s speaker series. They come and give a short presentation about women in pharmacy or women’s health or research.
Sisterhood
We planned a pool party and movie night for the girls and gathered at a Louisville Bats game.
Scholarship
Four members received grants from the school to go toward attending the 2017 Annual Convention.
Service
In addition to volunteering at our local Color Run 5k, we hosted a women’s health drive called Operation Menstruation, where we asked students and faculty to donate women’s products which we then donated to a women’s shelter in the area.
Members also worked community health fairs and went to a local prison to provide health care services to the inmates and collected shoes for those in need. Each Halloween, we set up booths in a parking lot, so that area children can trick-or-treat safely.
On a global level, members have traveled to Belize on a mission trip and have volunteered t Supplies Over Seas events.
