About Educational Grants
With the rising cost of education, financial support can make all the difference. The Lambda Kappa Sigma Educational Trust is committed to easing the financial burden for our sisters, helping them complete their pharmacy education and achieve their dreams. These grants are made possible through the generous contributions of our members and supporters.
The LKS Educational Grants Program offers several types of grants, and members are welcome to apply for one or more. For each academic year, applications open on September 15th, and must be submitted by January 15th.

Grant Amount: $1,500
Grant Cycle: The Lambda Kappa Sigma Educational Grants Program opens annually on September 15th and closes on January 15th.
About this grant: This grant is named in honor of Cora E. Craven, the visionary behind our Coat of Arms and Honorary Member pin. It celebrates academic excellence and dedication to the pharmacy profession, embodying the spirit of innovation and commitment that Cora brought to Lambda Kappa Sigma.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or a joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree program (M.S., M.A., M.B.A., M.P.H., etc.).
- Attending an ACPE-accredited U.S. pharmacy program or an internationally accredited program.
- Ranking in the upper half of your class academically.
- In good standing with Lambda Kappa Sigma (we’ll verify dues-paid status).

- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or a joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree program (M.S., M.A., M.B.A., M.P.H., etc.).
- Attending an ACPE-accredited U.S. pharmacy program or an internationally accredited program.
- Ranking in the upper half of your class academically.
- In good standing with Lambda Kappa Sigma (we’ll verify dues-paid status).
Specific Requirements:
- Norma Chipman Wells Loyalty Grant: Provide a statement of your loyalty to the fraternity.
Grant Amount: $1,500
Grant Cycle: The Lambda Kappa Sigma Educational Grants Program opens annually on September 15th and closes on January 15th.
About this grant: In memory of Mary Connolly Livingston, a founding member who made the initial substantial contribution to the LKS Educational Trust, this grant supports those who embody exceptional commitment to their studies and to our fraternity. It reflects Mary’s vision and dedication to advancing pharmacy education.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or a joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree program (M.S., M.A., M.B.A., M.P.H., etc.).

- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or a joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree program (M.S., M.A., M.B.A., M.P.H., etc.).
- Attending an ACPE-accredited U.S. pharmacy program or an internationally accredited program.
- Ranking in the upper half of your class academically.

- Marilyn & Joe E. Haberle Educational Grant: Priority for those in the final two years of their professional curriculum; include a statement of your fraternity spirit, professional activities, and academic achievements.
Grant Amount: $1,500
Grant Cycle: The Lambda Kappa Sigma Educational Grants Program opens annually on September 15th and closes on January 15th.
About this grant: Honoring Rosamond Alice Guinn, a trailblazing African American pharmacist and one of our founders, this grant supports ethnic or racially minoritized students. It carries forward Rosamond’s legacy of breaking barriers and inspiring change in the field of pharmacy.

About this grant: Established at the 2025 Annual Convention, this grant honors the legacy of Portia DeVore, a beloved member of Lambda Kappa Sigma for over 50 years and a dedicated member of the Phi Alumni Chapter. Portia’s unwavering commitment, service, and sisterhood left a lasting mark on the Fraternity. This grant recognizes members who embody her spirit by demonstrating extraordinary dedication to LKS—whether through mentorship, innovation, national involvement, or quiet but powerful service that extends beyond traditional measures of achievement.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or a joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree program (M.S., M.A., M.B.A., M.P.H., etc.).
- Attending an ACPE-accredited U.S. pharmacy program or an internationally accredited program.
- Ranking in the upper half of your class academically.
- In good standing with Lambda Kappa Sigma (we’ll verify dues-paid status).
- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or a joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree program (M.S., M.A., M.B.A., M.P.H., etc.).

Specific Requirements:
- There is no separate essay for the Portia DeVore Spirit of LKS Grant. The Educational Grants Committee will select the recipient based on information already provided in the general application, including essays submitted for other grants.
Grant Amount: $2,500
Grant Cycle: The Lambda Kappa Sigma Educational Grants Program opens annually on September 15th and closes on January 15th.
About this grant: This prestigious grant honors Dr. B. Olive Cole, a pioneering educator and administrator at the University of Maryland, renowned as the first woman to hold a deanship title in U.S. Schools and Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Cole was also the first recipient of the Fraternity Award of Merit. Designed to support advanced graduate study, this grant is aimed at those who are committed to furthering their careers through significant research and study, embodying Dr. Cole’s unwavering dedication to advancing the field of pharmacy.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must have a pharmacy degree and be enrolled in a graduate study program (Masters, Doctoral, or joint Pharm.D. and Master’s degree).
- Must have completed at least one-fourth of the required credits or one year of graduate study.
- Must be in good standing with Lambda Kappa Sigma (we’ll verify dues-paid status).
- Preview and Prepare: Download the application preview to review all requirements and gather the necessary materials.
- Identify Your Recommenders: Select two individuals to complete recommendation questionnaires.
- The first recommender should preferably be your LKS Chapter Fraternity Advisor, Faculty Advisor, or Dean of Students.
- The second recommender can be any of the above, your Region Supervisor, a Pharmacy faculty member, or an LKS Alumni member.
- Complete and Submit Your Application: Once your application is ready, submit it to generate recommendation requests. Your recommenders will receive an email with the recommendation questionnaire. Be sure to submit your application early enough to allow your recommenders time to complete their questionnaires before the January 15th deadline.
Deadline Reminder: All applications and recommendation questionnaires must be submitted by January 15th annually.
