FAQs for Mentees

You can sign up or apply to be part of the mentorship program during August and September of each year. More details, including how to register, will be shared in the monthly newsletter and posted on our social media pages.

Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate mid-year participants at this time. The program runs from fall through the end of the school year, but we’d love to see you apply when applications open again next fall!

Great question! We pair mentors and mentees based on shared interests and goals to ensure a meaningful connection. During the application process, you’ll have the chance to share your preferences, and we’ll do our best to match you with someone who aligns with your aspirations!

We totally understand! The formal mentoring relationship lasts six to nine months, but the time commitment is flexible. You and your mentor will decide together how often to meet—whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly—based on what works best for both of you.

The sky’s the limit! You can talk about anything from professional development skills like CV writing and interviewing to personal topics like work-life balance and wellness strategies. Your mentor is here to support your growth in all aspects of your life.

Participating in the mentorship program offers you a unique opportunity for tailored personal and professional growth. You’ll work one-on-one with an experienced LKS alumna who will help you set and achieve specific goals, whether it’s improving your resume, honing your interview skills, or navigating your career path in pharmacy. You’ll also gain access to a valuable network of accomplished professionals who can open doors and provide insights into the industry. Plus, as you learn and grow, you’ll be contributing to the strength of your chapter by bringing back fresh ideas and initiatives, all while inspiring future generations of LKS members with your journey and experiences!

We totally get it! The formal mentoring relationship lasts six to nine months, and the time commitment is flexible. You and your mentee will discuss how often you’d like to meet, whether it’s once a month or bi-weekly, to fit your schedules.

If you’re passionate about sharing your knowledge and experiences, you’re already on the right track! You don’t need to be an expert in every area; just being willing to listen, guide, and support your mentee’s growth is what really matters.

No worries! A diverse range of experiences can actually lead to rich discussions. You can still provide valuable insights and support, and you may find common ground in unexpected areas!

Absolutely! If you have the capacity and interest, we encourage mentors to take on multiple mentees. Just make sure you can dedicate enough time and attention to each relationship to make it meaningful.

Mentoring is a profoundly rewarding experience that allows you to give back to the LKS community while enhancing your own leadership journey. By guiding a collegiate member, you’ll not only refine your mentoring and leadership skills but also gain fresh perspectives on the current challenges and aspirations of aspiring pharmacists. This relationship can lead to meaningful connections that expand your professional network, as your mentee may introduce you to new ideas and insights from their unique experiences. Ultimately, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of pharmacy leaders, leaving a lasting impact that can influence their careers and contributions to the profession for years to come!
