The newly reactivated Eta chapter came back to campus at St. Joseph’s University Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in November of 2024 and has hit the ground running, growing their chapter to 32 active sisters in their first year of reactivation. The re-founding sisters have shown incredible resilience, continuing to push for the reactivation of their chapter despite being told “no” time and time again. After a year of hard work and dedication to Lambda Kappa Sigma, the Eta chapter is back, and making incredible strides as a chapter, even earning the Top Social Media Strategy chapter award at this year’s convention in Pittsburgh, PA. How did they do it? Let’s dive a little deeper into Eta’s social media strategies and see how your chapter can expand your social media presence to help improve your on-campus presence and recruitment this semester.
Eta chapter’s historian, Cameryn, works hard to make social media posts using Canva and asks members of the chapter to send in pictures to be featured. They try hard to emulate the core value of sisterhood in their social media, and post pictures of sisters enjoying spending time together. They also like to highlight notable member achievements, including new leadership positions and scholarship awards, to show how proud they are of their sisters. Eta’s President mentioned the chapter’s social media accounts as one of their biggest strengths and best recruitment tools.
During recruitment, Eta utilizes a link to an interest form, which asks potential new members to tell the chapter some basic information including their name, contact information, and year in school, as well as giving them an opportunity to include any questions they may have about the chapter. Once the chapter collects the interest forms, they divide the list amongst current chapter members to have sisters personally reach out to new members and invite them to recruitment events and act as a point of contact for any questions they may have. This personalized approach shows potential new members that the active sisters care about and want to get to know them. When potential new members know at least one sister at a recruitment event, it helps them to integrate into the sisterhood and be less nervous about attending.
Eta also understands the struggle of balancing the demanding pharmacy school curriculum with a busy social life. They try very hard to make sure they are commuter friendly and try to ensure that each member is able to get the most out of being involved in LKS, regardless of their other commitments. They plan their events around exams and other school events, ensuring that they provide new members with a fun and low stress environment. Flexibility is key, and Eta chapter encourages their potential new members to always be themselves and not be afraid to ask questions.
What can your chapter take away from Eta chapter to elevate your social media and recruitment?
- Utilize Canva to make eye-catching graphics
- Post pictures of sister achievements and events
- Include a link to an interest form for potential new members
- Have individual sisters reach out to new members for a personalized experience
- Plan events around exams and busy times to ensure a low stress environment
With these tips, your social media may soon become one of your chapter’s greatest strengths as well. LKS is so proud of Eta’s reactivation and can’t wait to see how they continue to grow in the coming years!
