LKS spotlights student and alumni members that are making a difference in their chapters, in their communities, and in the field of pharmacy.
Chapter: Alpha Phi Chapter (Wilkes Univ.)
About Kayla:
I am the President of Alpha Phi Chapter at Wilkes University and am on the LKS Memorials & Resolutions Committee. Previously, I served on the Convention Committee for the 2016 Annual Convention held in nearby Scranton. At Wilkes University, I work as an Anatomy & Physiology Teaching Assistant. I’m also employed at Fino’s Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy located in Dallas, Pennsylvania. During my free time, I really enjoy running and cooking.
Why did you join LKS?
When entering pharmacy school, I felt it was difficult to meet people and build relationships because I was not only a transfer student but also a commuter. At LKS recruitment events, I immediately experienced a sense of belonging and sisterhood. Every sister I talked to had such pride and confidence being a member of the Fraternity. I was drawn to this instantly and knew that LKS could provide me with timeless opportunities.
Most memorable LKS experience?
I will never forget hosting the 2016 Annual Convention with my chapter. It was truly an incredible experience that brought me even closer to other collegiate and alumni members. I loved seeing members of all types come together for the good of such an influential organization. The bond of LKS sisters is one of a kind.
What are your career plans?
After pharmacy school, I plan on applying for a PGY1 residency with a teaching certificate.
