Student Spotlight: Meet Lian Ngaopraseut!

LKS spotlights student and alumni members that are making a difference in their chapters, in their communities, and in the field of pharmacy.
Chapter: Xi Chapter (University of Rhode Island)

About me:

I’m in my first professional year at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and my third year of being a member of Lambda Kappa Sigma. This year I am a community service committee chair and the president elect of Xi chapter for the 2018-2019 school year. I attended my first convention last year in Atlanta and I’m very excited to be going to Buffalo this year! I work at St. Vincent’s Medical Center as a pharmacy intern. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going to the gym, and making things I find on Pinterest.

Why did you join LKS?:

Going into college I knew that I wanted to be part of something that would allow me to connect to other people in my major who had similar interests as me.  I knew that LKS would be a great way to make friends and get advice from older sisters in the program. Right away they made me feel at home and I’m so glad that I joined LKS because I can’t imagine going to pharmacy school without it.

Most memorable LKS experience:

My most memorable LKS experience was at the 2017 convention in Atlanta. Two other sisters from my chapter and I gave a presentation during the Lamb TaLKS about risk management to all the collegiate attendees. I never thought that I could give a presentation at a national convention, but I’m so glad that the older sisters from my chapter encouraged me to do it!

Career Plans:

As of now I would like to pursue a residency at a hospital and work as a clinical pharmacist on a unit. I still have yet to decide what I would like to specialize in but I’m looking forward to figuring that out in the next few years of school and during my rotations!
