At Lambda Kappa Sigma, we take great pride in recognizing the exceptional achievements and work of our Collegiate Chapters. The Top Recruitment Strategy award honors a chapter that has made significant strides in revamping and improving their recruitment efforts with creativity, innovation, and success. This year, we\’re excited to celebrate the Alpha Mu Chapter from The University of Toledo, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences for their outstanding recruitment strategy.
Throughout the semester, Alpha Mu Chapter actively engaged with students at involvement fairs and events like orientations and the Pharmacy Field Day. They cleverly used a QR code on their poster to provide easy access to an interest form, making it simple for prospective members to connect.
Their outreach efforts were enhanced by leveraging social media to identify and connect with prospective students, particularly targeting younger students. Members of the executive board took a personal approach by reaching out directly to potential new members (PNMs) and inviting them to recruitment events, fostering a more personal connection and increasing engagement. They also used GroupMe for efficient communication regarding new member processes and ongoing events.
During recruitment, events emphasized sisterhood and created a welcoming atmosphere. Each PNM was paired with an active member for support, ensuring they felt included and valued. The chapter focused on building personal connections by matching PNMs with current members based on common characteristics. By the end of the recruitment and orientation process, Alpha Mu Chapter successfully inducted 16 new members in the fall and 5 in the spring, more than doubling its size. Their efforts highlighted the importance of sisterhood, leadership opportunities, and the professional benefits of joining Lambda Kappa Sigma.
