The Alpha Rho chapter is located at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Originally founded on May 2nd, 1963, the chapter was reactivated on November 21st, 2009. Now the chapter is proud of their 25 active members who work together to help plan events all year round! Involving many members in the planning process is the key to making sure that Alpha Rho chapter is able to plan a variety of successful and engaging events for its members and campus community.
The sisters are most proud of their recruitment events in the Fall of 2024. Their recruitment team worked throughout the summer to ensure everything was well prepared entering the school year. Something unique that the chapter chose to do for their recruitment was to keep a consistent theme of Ocean/Under the Sea throughout recruitment. One notable recruitment event was seashell painting, which allowed sisters to get to know each other over something artistic and creative. The Big/Little reveal event for the chapter also featured themes that fit the overall ocean theme of the week. The picture included by Alpha Rho features Debra Li and Bonnie Zheng who were paired up with the pirate theme! The recruitment team was headed by New Member Educators Kaitlyn Taverns and Trish Le, and supported by the chapter President, Emily Seto, and Vice President, Emily Dong. Great work everyone!
Another successful event hosted by Alpha Rho was the “Women in Industry” event that focused on female pharmacists in positions of leadership in pharmaceutical companies. Sisters who attended this event described it as empowering and informative. Specifically, the sisters enjoyed the chance to interview a pharmacist working in regulatory affairs, which was a unique experience for attendees. LKS alumni member and employee of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Naafiah Raidah, was one of the featured speakers of this event. A key player in the planning of this event was Sophia Ly, the Alpha Rho Professional Chair, who was inducted into Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society for her work in developing this event for Northeastern’s students. Congratulations Sophia!
As you can see, the involvement of many different sisters within the chapter, along with alumni cooperation, was required to make sure that a variety of meaningful events were hosted by Alpha Rho. You can’t do it all by yourself! Look to Alpha Rho and lean on your sisters to form committees and work together to create events that benefit everyone. The investment of all sisters is necessary to help your chapter reach its fullest potential.
