The Alpha Chi Chapter of Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) was founded on June 7th, 2009. With 24 active members, Alpha Chi prides itself on creating strong leaders.
This chapter serves as a support system for its members pushing them to pursue their career goals with a focus on leadership development. The sisters of Alpha Chi serve in leadership roles in various other professional student organizations. Having one sister on the E-board of professional organizations provides the opportunity to encourage other sisters to join, widening their reach and broadening their leadership development. Sisters further in their pharmacy schooling can serve as mentors and encourage newer sisters to take on various leadership roles.
To foster leadership development, the chapter collaborates with fellow student organizations. For example, Alpha Chi celebrated Pharmacist Month with NEOMED’s Chapter of the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP). The fraternity advisor, Jaclyn Boyle, PharmD, M.S., M.B.A., BCACP spoke at an event co-hosted with SSHP in October. During the event, she discussed her role in visiting the nation’s capitol to advocate for provider status for pharmacists on the state level. She further discussed the importance of advocacy for healthcare professionals and its impact on patient outcomes. These engaging events with other leaders within the fraternity’s network, allow members to network and grow in their leadership abilities. Sisters are able to practice their strengths as leaders in their field and community through Alpha Chi chapter. With a focus on leadership development, Alpha Chi prepares sisters to be leaders in our profession.
Kaitlyn Myk-Kish, an Alpha Chi sister of Lambda Kappa Sigma, is one such leader. She was selected as a 2023-2024 recipient of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’s Student Leadership Award. She is one of twelve pharmacy students nationwide to receive this award. Congratulations Kaitlyn!

- Encourage the involvement of sisters in various professional student organizations.
