Lambda Kappa Sigma is more than an organization—it’s a vibrant community that thrives on the diverse experiences and shared camaraderie of its members. In our ongoing Sisterhood Spotlights series, we highlight the exceptional women who embody the values of leadership, service, and dedication to the pharmacy profession. Today, we turn our spotlight onto Darby Hobbs, a distinguished member of LKS’s Beta Delta Chapter, whose journey exemplifies the transformative power of sisterhood and a steadfast commitment to professional growth.
Meet Darby Hobbs: A Trailblazer in Sisterhood and Leadership
Darby’s journey with LKS began at Alpha Zeta Chapter, where she was initiated into the esteemed sisterhood. Her dedication to the organization and her passion for fostering sisterhood led her to bring LKS with her when she transferred to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Pharmacy. There, she played a pivotal role in establishing the new Beta Delta Chapter of Lambda Kappa Sigma on her campus – a chapter that has seen much success since their debut in March of 2022. Darby’s leadership skills and unwavering commitment earned her recognition as the Collegiate of the Year at Convention 2023, a testament to her exceptional contributions to LKS.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Darby serves as a pharmacy intern at Saint Louis University (SLU) hospital, where she is gaining invaluable experience in patient care and clinical practice. However, amidst her busy schedule, Darby finds solace and joy in spending quality time with her family, indulging in her passion for baking, and enjoying board games with friends.
Embracing Sisterhood: A Journey of Inspiration
Darby’s decision to join LKS was motivated by the inspiring women she encountered within the organization. Drawn to their leadership, professionalism, and unwavering support for one another, Darby saw LKS as a community where she could thrive and contribute to something greater than herself.
Throughout her journey with LKS, Darby has cherished the countless memories made with her sisters. From the excitement of building a new chapter from the ground up to the unforgettable experiences shared at conventions, LKS has been an integral part of Darby’s pharmacy journey, shaping her into the leader she is today.
The Power of Networking: Building Connections That Last
One of the most significant benefits of Darby’s involvement in LKS has been the opportunity to network with fellow sisters across various settings. Whether volunteering, working, or on rotations, Darby has found a sense of camaraderie and connection with fellow LKS members, creating a vast network of support and collaboration.
A Vision for the Future: Pursuing Excellence in Pharmacy
As Darby looks towards graduation, her career aspirations are clear. With a desire to specialize in critical care or oncology, Darby plans to pursue residency training, aiming to complete both a PGY1 and a PGY2 program. Armed with the skills, knowledge, and support garnered through her LKS experience, Darby is poised to make a meaningful impact in her chosen field, embodying the values of leadership, compassion, and service that define the essence of LKS.
