Chapter Spotlight: Beta Beta’s Big Comeback at Western New England University

Beta Beta Chapter at Western New England University is hitting the ground running! The chapter was originally founded on February 21st, 2015, but was re-established on March 21st, 2024. With barely one year of operation under their belt, the Beta Beta chapter has made impressive strides to integrate into their campus and local community, as well as the Lambda Kappa Sigma family.

Beta Beta is most excited about their collaboration with the ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) chapter at their school to make coping kits for Caitlin’s Smiles. Caitlin’s Smiles is an organization that provides support to children fighting life-threatening or chronic conditions, helping them to feel a sense of joy in emergency rooms or outpatient surgery settings. This past January, Beta Beta and ASHP created kits filled with Play-Doh, crayons, stickers, journals, and coloring pages to help the children cope with the stress of surgery and ER visits. Beta Beta’s President stated, “We are so excited to be a part of this event, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our chapter regarding engagement within our campus and local community!”. We feel the same way!

One unique offering of the Beta Beta chapter is its inclusion of long-distance students. The chapter reaches many off-campus members, even some living in other states! Though they are mostly only able to engage with them through their computer screens, they are grateful for the outreach they have achieved in their first short year of membership and feel fortunate to include these long-distance members.

Though they are a fairly recent addition, Beta Beta wasted no time in making sure their delegate and alternate attended the LKS national convention, and we enjoyed seeing them in Brookfield, WI this past summer! When asked about her favorite memory, Beta Beta’s President said she couldn’t list just one.  “…every day was amazing, and the love and support we got from all our lamb sisters was the highlight of our time at the convention!” she wrote. We can’t wait to see them again in Pittsburgh, PA this upcoming July!

LKS is so proud of Beta Beta’s accomplishments, and we look forward to seeing many more to come!
