At Lambda Kappa Sigma, we’re thrilled to recognize chapters that excel in fostering Sisterhood through impactful and creative events. This year, the Beta Delta Chapter from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville stands out with their remarkable Women in Pharmacy (WIP) series, earning them the Top P4/Alumni Event award.
The WIP series, running from January to May 2024, aimed to connect current members with alumni and peers, offering valuable networking, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities. The first event featured prominent local alumni who shared their experiences and offered guidance on various career stages. This event successfully brought together current members with accomplished alumni from St. Louis and Chicago, highlighting the importance of maintaining connections after graduation, building lasting professional relationships, and accessing support networks.
The second event involved PGY 2 residents from a local hospital, including an alum from the Alpha Nu chapter. These professionals offered practical advice on APPEs, residency matches, and interview strategies, and underscored the strength of the LKS network.
The third event was a panel discussion with women on career advancement, work-life balance, and other relevant topics. Their insights provided valuable guidance for navigating the professional world.
The final event was a peer-to-peer mentorship session hosted by current P4s, covering APPE rotations, residency programs, and post-graduate plans. This setup allowed for meaningful exchanges between students at different stages of their careers.
Beta Delta Chapter’s thoughtful approach to connecting with alumni and supporting professional growth truly set them apart. They received the Top P4/Alumni Event award at the 2024 Lambda Kappa Sigma Convention in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Congratulations to Beta Delta Chapter for this well-deserved recognition!
