At Lambda Kappa Sigma, we\’re proud to recognize chapters that truly shine in creativity, innovation, and success with their service events. This year, the Top Service Event award is going to the Omicron Chapter from Wayne State University, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for their remarkable “Plan A Project,” which made a significant impact in line with the Women’s Health Initiative.
Omicron Chapter\’s “Plan A Project” was designed to educate and empower students about safe sex practices. Funded by a $3,000 District IV NABP/AACP Grant, the project ran from January to May 2024 and featured two key components: reproductive trivia sessions and interactive seminars.
Their outreach was impressive, drawing in 113 students for seminars and engaging 490 participants in trivia sessions. The weekly trivia events at the campus student center were a hit, featuring a spinning wheel with questions, prize candy, and free condoms—an engaging way to spread knowledge about reproductive health.
Additionally, the chapter hosted 10 public seminars and two private ones for sororities, featuring interactive presentations by trained student pharmacists. These sessions covered essential topics like anatomy, contraception, and advocacy, and included videos from campus organizations and Representative Kara Hope on pharmacist-prescribed birth control. Attendees also had the chance to support Michigan House Bills 5435 and 5436 by sending template letters.
Omicron Chapter’s “Plan A Project” exemplified their commitment to ongoing advocacy and education on reproductive health. Their creativity and dedication earned them the Top Service Event award, which was presented at the 2024 Lambda Kappa Sigma Convention in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Congratulations to Omicron Chapter for this well-earned recognition!
