Chapter Spotlight: Pi Chapter at Rutgers Blends Creativity, Connection, and Service

Pi Chapter of Lambda Kappa Sigma at Rutgers University continues to exemplify the core values through its standout events and dynamic recruitment efforts.

One of the most memorable highlights of the season was the Coffeehouse fundraiser, an event that resonated deeply with the chapter’s core value of service. Organized by Swati Bangalore and Angela Fermin, the Coffeehouse raised over $500 for Project HOPE, an organization dedicated to improving healthcare access in underserved communities. With 13 remarkable performances ranging from soulful vocal acts and musical instrumentals to a captivating magic show, the event celebrated creativity and compassion. Complemented by free pizza and drinks, the Coffeehouse created an inviting atmosphere that welcomed both students and supporters alike.

The overwhelming turnout surpassed expectations and demonstrated the strong community bonds Pi Chapter has cultivated. More than just a fundraiser, the Coffeehouse was a platform for artistic expression and heartfelt contribution, a testament to how service can be creatively and meaningfully integrated into chapter life. Thanks to Swati and Angela’s leadership, the event was not only a resounding success in terms of fundraising but also a memorable chapter experience that united and inspired.

When it comes to recruitment, Pi Chapter’s strategy is rooted in authenticity and connection. This fall’s events, led by Hannah Fuscaldo and Jane Cho, embraced an imaginative Under the Sea theme that set the tone for a series of engaging and purposeful activities. From a tote bag painting session that encouraged creativity and conversation to assembling utensil kits for donation to Elijah’s Promise, each event reflected the chapter’s unwavering dedication to service and sisterhood.

The recruitment week culminated in a lively game night, offering a relaxed space for potential new members (PNMs) to form bonds and experience the warmth of the LKS community firsthand. These events weren’t just about fun—they were carefully designed to highlight the values and camaraderie that make Lambda Kappa Sigma unique.

Advice to prospective members? Don’t hesitate—take the leap and get involved. Lambda Kappa Sigma is more than just a professional fraternity; it’s a support system that nurtures leadership, celebrates service, and fosters friendships that last a lifetime. Attend events, ask questions, and immerse yourself in the experience. You may just find your home in LKS.
